CELEBRATING THE TRADITIONAL CHINESE YEAR OF THE DOG

(From January 29, 2006, to February 17, 2007.)

This is the year 4703 in the Traditional Chinese Calendar.

EXPECTED ASPECTS OF THE YEAR OF THE FIRE DOGChinese Zodiac Dog

Beginning on the 4th February 2006, the year of the Fire Dog will be strongly influenced by Fire and Earth elements. These two elements represent the cycle of birth and destruction, which governs the inter-relationship between the elements; Fire will give birth to Earth. Fire sitting on Earth is a symbol of support and harmony, and this may bring a relatively more peaceful year with less international conflicts than in the past few years. The Yang Fire in the year of the Fire Dog is similar to the Sun sitting on top of the Earth element. The Yang Fire is a symbol of big Fire, and the Earth Dog is a symbol of the storage of Fire. This element will influence more openness, optimism, warmth, politeness and care. As such, it is anticipated that there will be more open and honest peace talks and settlements leading to a more harmonious atmosphere, which the world has been lacking for many years. The Earth element will represent the Dog, and has the implication of the “Gate of Hell” and “storage of Fire”. This character often carries spiritual and religious implications. As such, in the year 2006 the focus will be on seeking spiritual meaning and answers, and more people will be drawn to religious events and discussions.
Anyone who is born in the years of the Dragon, Ox or Goat/Sheep will clash with the Dog. Therefore people born in such years have to be particularly careful in 2006. The Dragon, Ox and Goat/Sheep also represent the Earth element. This means we will be having Earth clashing against Earth. The danger is that it could be associated with Earth disasters such as landslide and collapse of buildings or Earthquakes. Beware, those born in the year of Dragon, Ox and Goat/Sheep, of going too close to massive Earth areas such as mountains or desserts, particularly during the months of April, July, October and January 2007. I would recommend that anyone born in the year of Dragon, Ox or Goat/Sheep, wear or carry a pendant of a Rabbit which will help to minimize the negative influences of the year of the Dog. Anyhow, people who are born in the year of Dragon will experience a more turbulent year with moving, traveling, and changes. It is suitable to engage in such movements, such as moving house or moving offices. Anyone born in the year of Dragon, traveling is also good but you should avoid traveling to places the Northwest direction of where you live.
More spiritual activities and strange happenings will occur in the year of the Dog. There will be hidden danger representing health problems such as serious cancer problems, for anyone born in the year of Dragon, Ox and Goat/Sheep, and a necessity to take precautions such as taking anti-oxidants, quitting smoking and drinking alcohol.
The Five basic elements represent different parts of our body. Fire in general relates to blood circulation and the heart, and Yang Fire also represents the shoulder area. Therefore in 2006 more people will complain of shoulder pains. The Earth element is the symbol of stomach or spleen, muscles and cells. Therefore strong Earth years will bring cancer problem. The combination of Fire and Earth will destroy the water element. As such, it will also create health problems such as kidney failure. It is necessary to take more fresh fruit and vegetables, vitamin C, omega 3 oil etc, this year to enhance the water aspect. The configuration of Fire and Earth will bring dry weather, and the lack of water will cause dryness of hair and many people will experience faster loss of hair in this year.
In summary, the industries that will perform well in the year of the Dog will be industries related to Wood and Fire elements – such as energy, electricity, finance, stock market, textile, fashion, paper and publications. On the other hand, industries relating to Earth and Metal will not be doing so well. Earth industries include mining, chemicals, property, hotel, and metal industries are cars, heavy industries, iron and steel, and hi-tech and internet related business. The Water industries – such as shipping, drinks, communication, etc., are in for a year with some superficial prosperity, but not substantial.
For people born in the Year of Dog, the year 2006 is offending the Grand Duke and is also considered not favourable. As such, people born in years of Earth animal signs – the Dragon, the Dog, the Ox, and the Goat/Sheep all have to take precautions in 2006, and the minimum preventive measure is to carry a pendant of the Rabbit to attract the Dog away.
The animals combining with the Dog Year are the Rabbit, the Tiger, and the Horse. These animals are into a year of harmony.
With the Year of the Dog starting on the 4th February 2006, the energies of bad luck and sickness will be found in the South-East and West direction of your home. Therefore, it is necessary to put into place the Feng Shui cures to combat the bad energies before the 20th January 2006. In the Year of the Dog, the bad energy called “Five Yellow” – symbolizing obstacles and misfortune, arrives at the West. If your West of the house is an important area such as bedroom or entrances, it is recommended to hang a 6 rod metal wind chime there to dissolve this bad energy. The worst months will be in April, July, and September 2006. Another Bad Star number 2, symbolizing sickness, will arrive in the Southeast in the Year of the Dog. The cure to combat this bad energy of sickness is to hang a string of six metal coins or a string of 6 brass bells in the affected area in the Southeast of the house. The Grand Duke energy of lots of obstacles will be found in the Northwest direction, this year. If your front door or back door face the North-West direction, you will need to hang a concave mirror above the doorway (not on the door), and the mirror will need to moved in 2007. It is not advisable to do any Earth or construction work in the North-West direction, in the Year of the Dog. I would not advise for anyone to sit with their back facing the North; your back will absorb the bad energies of conflict and robbery called bad star 3. It is necessary to put a piece of red paper in the Earth sector to minimize such a bad influence.
To prevent scandal and gossip involving family or people sharing the house, you will need to place 3 or 4 of bamboo plant grown in clear glass vase of water in the South location.

WHAT THE YEAR OF THE FIRE DOG WILL REPRESENT IN YOUR YEAR

The RAT (year starts)
1912 (water) Feb 18, 1924 (wood) Feb 5, 1936 (fire) Jan24,1948 (earth) Feb 10,1960 (metal) Jan 28, 1972 (water) Jan 16, 1984 (wood) Feb 2, 1996 (fire) Feb 19.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Rat will need to be careful not to drift away from people, causing loneness. The Rat needs to turn this into a positive by making the most of the quiet time to reflect, replenish and relax. The Rat does not connect very well with the Fire Dog, so the rat can be resourceful in keeping busy and making the most of what is ahead in 2006. Adjusting your judgments of people will help when trying to persuade people to listen to your new projects and ideas.

The OX (year starts)
1913 (water) Feb 6, 1925 (wood) Jan 25, 1937 (fire) Feb 11, 1949 (earth) Jan 29, 1961 (metal) Feb 15, 1973 (water) Feb 3, 1985 (wood) Feb 20, 1997 (fire) Feb 8.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Ox will need to be careful when associating with people born in the year of The Dog, and The Goat/Sheep, as this can create terminal and great losses in relationships and business. This is not going to be a very successful year for any projects or relationships in the pipeline. There will be times when loneness will appear, so make the most of the time to relax and reflect. You need to take a back seat on all situations going on in your life for the year of 2006. This could be to your advantage as you may see things of importance you would have missed in the past. Be very careful about who you open up to and confide in, as they may start disclosing your private feeling and ideas.

The TIGER (year starts)
1914 (wood) Jan 26, 1926 (fire) Feb 13, 1938 (earth) Jan 31, 1950 (metal) Feb 17, 1962 (water) Feb 5, 1974 (wood) Jan23, 1986 (fire) Feb 9, 1998 (earth) Jan 28.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Tiger will have a much better year than in the last two. This year will be progressive, and more prosperous, and you could be recognized for projects you have been planning for some time. This may well mean sudden fame, recognition, or being the centre of attention. In your moment of success, make sure to not put yourself out on a limb, and don’t take your progress and success for granted, as they might not last. This is a very good year for fun, so make sure to enjoy yourself as you journey through the year of the Dog.

The RABBIT (year starts)
1915 (wood) Feb 14, 1927(fire) Feb 2, 1939 (earth) Feb 19, 1951 (metal) Feb 6, 1963 (water) Jan 25, 1975 (wood) Feb 11, 1987 (fire) Jan 29, 1999 (earth) Feb 16.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Rabbit will essentially have a good year. This is the year you can meet new people, having lots of activities on the go, and starting new projects. These new things could lead to new heights in the future. Look at teaming up with anyone born in the Year of the Dog, as it would be very lucky for the both of you. By planning wisely this year, next year will be full of prosperity.

The DRAGON (year starts)
1916 (fire) Feb 3, 1928 (earth) Jan 23, 1940 (metal) Feb 8, 1952 (water) Jan 27, 1964 (wood) Feb 13, 1976 (fire) Jan 31, 1988 (earth) Feb 17, 2000 (metal) Feb 5.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Dragon will be in for a year of conflicts. Relationships may end, and new projects or relationships could well be slow to take on. On a positive note the endings of bad and abusive relationships will be a good thing. It will be important to de-clutter every part of your life and home, getting rid of the old this year to let the new in next year. Don’t expect to have much control over anything going on in your life this year, just let destiny unfold as ordained, because you can’t change anything. Don’t stress, and just go with the flow. Look at your inner-self, and adapt to reap the benefits of the future. A word of warning; be careful how you handle endings of different situations in your life, so you don’t burn your bridges behind you, hurt people, or create enemies.

The SNAKE (year starts)
1917 (fire) Jan 23, 1929 (earth) Feb 10, 1941 (metal) Jan 27, 1953 (water) Feb 14, 1965 (wood) Feb 2, 1977 (fire) Feb 18, 1989 (earth) Feb 6, 2001 (metal) Jan 24.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Snake will have to think about everything going on in his or her life, as thing may not work out as planned. The positive side of this is that you will see things you may have missed if you rushed into new relationships or projects which could have cost you dearly in emotions or money. Go over the details of all changes with a fine tooth comb, you may fine new opportunities or new direction in your career which will bring success. Be every cautious about new projects that seem too good to be true, as they could prove very costly to you. Be careful about any new relationships this year and don’t try to push any relationship too fast, as this will create lots of heartache for you.

The HORSE (year starts)
1918 (earth) Feb 11, 1930 (metal) Jan 30, 1942 (water) Feb 15, 1954 (wood) Feb 3, 1966 (fire) Jan 21, 1978 (earth) Feb 7, 1990 (metal) Jan 27, 2002 (water) Feb 12.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Horse will reap the rewards of hard work in the last year. You could finally receive the promotion, acknowledgment and success for all your hard work. Think deeply about how you handle your successes. Success is really only worth-while if you share it round, you don’t want to be left alone with the trappings of success as your only companions. Don’t forget those who helped in your success, share it with them. Associating with people born in the Year of the Tiger or the Dog could prove very lucky for both of you. Beware of how you handle every situation good or bad in different partnership. There promises to be a great year ahead for you.

The GOAT (year starts)
1919 (earth) Feb 1, 1931 (metal) Feb 17, 1943 (water) Feb 5, 1955 (wood) Jan 24, 1967 (fire) Feb 9, 1979 (earth) Jan 28, 1991 (metal) Feb 15, 2003 (water) Feb 1.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Goat will come across many obstacles and false promises. People who you have expected great things from will not live up to your expectations. Be careful about sneaky people who are being deceitful behind your back. Be on your guard and check all information carefully and trust your instincts and don’t do anything you are not comfortable about. Make sure you understand the whole story clearly before making any decisions of importance and don’t let your mind be changed by anyone else’s opinion, as this will cause serious problems for you. Keep well clear of any get rich quick schemes as they will cost you dearly. Don’t enter into any business dealings with people born in the Year of the Dog, or the Ox. If you are already working on projects with these people be careful, and if problems arise, be quick to seek advice. The good news is that next year will be a very good year. My advice; sit in the background this year and don’t start anything new.

The MONKEY (year starts)
1920 (metal) Feb 20, 1932 (water) Feb 6, 1944 (wood) Jan 25, 1956 (fire) Feb 12, 1968 (earth) Jan 30, 1980 (metal) Feb 16, 1992 (water) Feb 4, 2004 (wood) Jan 22.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Monkey will have a more subdued time than he is used to. This may well not be to your liking, as you love the highs of energy that come with dealing with all the drama in your life. In this laid-back year, be careful not to get into situations of trouble and bad outcomes. Where relationships are concerned, trouble and endings could happen if you don’t take the time to handle the relationship with tender loving care. Don’t burn any bridges because of your ego as you will regret it. Trust your instincts about new or stable relationships because troubled romance is all around this year. You may need to up-date your romantic styles and opinions, if you don’t, heartache may well follow. This is a year for you not to delude yourself about anything important, especially in your relationships, as this will spell disaster for you.

The ROOSTER (year starts)
1921 (metal) Feb 8, 1933 (water) Jan 26, 1945 (wood) Feb 13, 1957 (fire) Jan 31, 1969 (earth) Feb 17, 1981 (metal) Feb 5, 1993 (water) Jan 23.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Rooster will feel out of sorts about many situations going on in life. Try practicing controlling your temper, when things don’t work out your way, as this may cause people, to gossip about you behind your back. Be careful when voicing your negative opinions about your colleagues or friends, as it may get back to them causing you embarrassment and trouble. Be careful who you confide your secrets and deepest wishes with, as some people could gossip about you. Separations of troubled relationships could be on the cards this year. Generally not a good year for you, think positive and stay relaxed.

The DOG (year starts)
1922 (water) Jan 28, 1934 (wood) Feb 14, 1946 (fire) Feb 2, 1958 (earth) Feb 18, 1970 (metal) Feb 6, 1982 (water) Jan 25, 1994 (wood) Feb 10.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Dog has to be a little cautious about the handling of life situations. Don’t be surprised if obstacles appear in projects you have working very hard on, how you handle these problems will be important to your reputation and success as the result could stay with you in the future. When promising time and things to other people make sure you can deliver. Because you are a very loyal person don’t over-stretch yourself trying to please other people. When entering business deals and new projects try not to involve people born in the Year of the Ox and the Goat/Sheep, as this will unlucky for you, and be careful who you confide your business ideas with. People born in the Year of the Tiger and the Snake will be lucky to associate with in any area of your life. Throughout the year you may feel all alone. This is a time to treat yourself, or enjoy the quiet time, as you don’t get it very often. You may be recognized for your contribution to different projects.

The PIG (year starts)
1923 (water) Feb 16, 1935 (wood) Feb 4, 1947 (fire) Jan 22, 1959 (earth) Feb 8, 1971 (metal) Jan 27, 1983 (water) Feb 13, 1995 (wood) Jan 31.

In the Year of the Fire Dog, the Pig/Boar will be looking for an exciting year, but not this year unfortunately. This is the year where you need to sharpen the sword, and start to balance all areas of your life. Starting with having more fun socializing but remember not at the sacrifice your work ethics. You need to be laying the path to the great year next year. So put your plans for success into place to succeed in your year of the Pig/ Boar next year. Planning for the future is the key for this year and having fun.
